Hey, I’m Aleya!
This year, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and create this space to share my journey of blending childhood nostalgia with my adult passions.
Growing up, I was obsessed with video games like The Sims, Dead or Alive, and Gears of War. I played on everything from the Sega Dreamcast (who else remembers Shenmue and Jet Set Radio?) to the GameCube, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS. I even played The Sims across multiple platforms, including PC. I was never an expert—but I didn’t care, because I was having fun.
Then adulthood happened. Like many, I found less and less time for the things I once loved. I still kept an eye on the gaming community, made a few purchases here and there, and squeezed in some gameplay, but never as much as I truly wanted. Over time, I slowly started dedicating more time to gaming again—and I realized how much joy it brought me.
At the same time, I discovered a love for self-care. I know it might sound funny to call self-care a hobby, but trust me—after watching countless YouTube videos and spending way too much time in Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ulta, and Sephora, I feel like it fits! During this phase, I was also introduced to anime, and it was love at first sight. I’m especially proud of catching up on One Piece in just a year (even though I hit a brief… okay, not-so-brief pause when I had to switch from dubbed to subbed episodes). Now, I’m even reading the manga!
So here I am—documenting my journey of rediscovering the hobbies that brought me joy as a kid and blending them with the ones I’ve embraced as an adult. I’m not sure where this journey will take me, especially as I approach my 30s, but I hope to share it with others who can relate (or are just along for the ride).
Let’s have fun and create a space where gaming, self-care, and anime collide! 🎮✨💖
